Chartered Psychologist in Kerry and Cork

Welcome

Life can feel overwhelming sometimes — whether it's anxiety, low mood, burnout, or past trauma. You might notice it's affecting your relationships, work, or everyday life, leaving you feeling stuck or unsure where to turn.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and you've come to the right place.

I’m Dr Darragh O’Shea, a Chartered Psychologist (C.Psychol. PsSI, AFBPsS) and accredited CBT and EMDR therapist. Over the past decade, I’ve helped people make sense of their experience and find new ways of coping through proven therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I offer face-to-face therapy in Killarney (Co. Kerry) and Victoria Cross (Cork City), as well as online and telephone sessions for your convenience. Together, we’ll work to understand what’s holding you back and build the tools you need to move towards what matters most in your life.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love to help. Feel free to reach out when you're ready.

Therapies & Services

CBT

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychological treatment for a range of psychological difficulties. CBT teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. CBT concentrates on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions. CBT treatment is a time-limited and collaborative treatment that typically involves efforts to change thinking and behavioural patterns that may be maintaining or creating problems for you in your life.

EDMR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive psychotherapy that helps you process and recover from past experiences that are affecting your mental health and wellbeing. It involves using side to side eye movements combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format. EMDR helps you process the negative images, emotions, beliefs, and body sensations associated with traumatic memories that seem to be stuck. These can contribute to a range of mental health problems.

Clinical Supervision

As a registrant of the British Psychological Society's Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors, I provide professional supervision to fellow psychologists. For more information about my current availability, please contact me directly.

About Me - Dr Darragh O'Shea

Hi, I’m Dr Darragh O’Shea. As a chartered psychologist and accredited therapist, I’m passionate about helping people improve their mental and physical wellbeing, and I believe that real, lasting change is possible for everyone.

When I was 18, I had no idea what career would suit me — and honestly, I think that’s pretty normal! I decided to follow my interests and study Psychology, and during my undergraduate years, I became fascinated by how closely our mental and physical health are connected. That passion has guided my career ever since.

How Can Therapy Help?

People come to therapy for many reasons.

Here are some of the issues I commonly support:

Anxiety and panic attacks

Depression

Trauma and post-traumatic stress (PTSD)

Stress and burnout

Phobias

Coping with a health diagnosis

Chronic pain, fatigue, or other physical symptoms

Health related anxiety or trauma

Fear of medical procedures (e.g., needles, scans, and surgery)

Whether what you’re experiencing is listed here or not, therapy offers a space to explore what’s going on and find a way forward.

Location

I offer face-to-face therapy from two clinics:

Killarney: 3rd Floor, 41/42 High Street, Killarney, Co. Kerry

Cork City: Therapy Rooms, Victoria Cross, Cork City

Both locations are ideally located, easy to reach by public transport, and have ample paid parking nearby.

Each space is private, quiet, and designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.

Of course, if you prefer, online or telephone sessions are also available, offering flexibility to suit your schedule and needs.

Fees

CBT sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. EMDR sessions are between 50-90 minutes. For more intensive EMDR processing 90 minutes per session is recommended, which allows for maximum benefit. During our initial conversations we can discuss your needs and decide what duration works best for you.

All sessions, whether 50 or 90 minutes in duration, are charged at the standard rate of €120.

Availability

Please note, I offer a free 15 minute online or telephone consultation to discuss your reasons for seeking support and to find out whether you feel the support I offer is right for you.

All appointments (whether you choose face-to-face, telephone or online) will take place in my private clinic room and are charged at the same rate as face-to-face.

Fees are to be paid at the end of each session by electronic bank transfer.

Private Healthcare Insurance

Please discuss this with your insurer, as each insurance policy differs. However, it is likely to be tax-deductible as a healthcare expense. Your health insurer may ask you if you’re psychologist is registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland. I am listed on the directory of chartered psychologists in Ireland which can be accessed here.
